How to Transition a Winter Coat into Spring

Posted on

with temps up and down on a daily basis, it can be challenging to easily transition winter staples into a spring wardrobe. it's easiest to start with light neutral-toned winter wear since darker hues don't exactly point to sunnier days. thanks to you babes, our Urban Nomad Jacket (shown here) is now sold out, however these styling tips can definitely be used with any similar coat or jacket.

my biggest tip for effortless winter-to-spring dressing is LAYER LAYER LAYER!

:: :: ::

look 1 // wearing :: the NAVEDA Urban Nomad Jacket, Zara short sleeve buttondown shirt dress, Lulus corset belt, and Lulus lace ankle booties

STYLE TIP :: we'll call this look 'the shoulder drape.' a coat or jacket (or duster) draped over the shoulders automatically elevates any look. try it over an athleisure look like joggers and a Tee, and in seconds your look goes from cas to classic-chic. be careful though because the shoulder drape can give you a boxier silhouette and visually widen the shoulders. to create balance, cinch in the waist if possible with a fitted silhouette underneath or belt your outfit as shown here.

look 2 // wearing :: the NAVEDA Urban Nomad Jacket, Uniqlo basic thin sweater and ripped black denim, ALDO silver buckle belt, Missguided belt-bag, Zara peep-toe ankle booties

STYLE TIP :: belting your jacket allows you to drop a shoulder and keep it in place. i also love doubling up on belts (in this case with a belt-bag) because two is always better than one, and gives the look a bit of dimension. also, when i shop for belts, i usually buy 1-2 sizes up so that i have the option to wrap and tie it as shown here.

look 3 // wearing :: the NAVEDA Urban Nomad Jacket, TopShop denim jacket, Zara short sleeve buttondown shirt dress, Lulus over-the-knee boots, NAVEDA gold metal mesh cuff (shop here) and metal handbag (coming soon)

STYLE TIP :: this look is great for cool spring nights when you need some extra coziness. layering a cropped jacket (denim or leather) underneath a heavier weight coat/jacket gives visual interest to the overall look and gives you the option to peel a layer off as needed.
